Yuji-san has been visiting Omarama nearly every year since the 1995 World Championships. For more than 10 years he has worked with Glide Omarama coaching Japanese pilots in the fine art of mountain soaring and competing in the New Zealand National Championships and the Enterprise Omarama contest.
One of Japan most experienced glider pilots; Yuji is the Director of Operations and CFI for SATA and is based on Takikawa’s beautiful airfield in the mountains of the northern island of Hokkaido. He has more than 7,000 gliding hours and 1000 power hours and flies everything from a Minimoa to the ASH 25.
He says he loves Omarama’s beautiful scenery, good friendships, nice camp ground and excellent mountain soaring. He normally visits for a month from just after Christmas until well into the New Year.
