Dan McCormack

Dan first learned to fly at Bowland Forest Gliding Club in the UK. He spent several years instructing for the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, and came to Omarama on a gap-year after finishing his mathematics degree.

Now a New Zealand resident.  “I never looked back!”

After five years working for Glide Omarama honing his mountain flying skills Dan was  appointed as Glide Omarama’s Chief Flying Instructor.  This followed 20 years service from the indomitable Lemmy Tanner. Big shoes to step into!

Besides his youthful enthusiasm and the respect of his fellow instructors,  Dan brings a broad range of experience to this role.  He is a wonderful instructor, an enthusiastic cross-country pilot, a successful contest pilot and a tow pilot who has a range of management and IT skills to boot.

” I love best those mountain thermal days when we can soar past Mount Aspiring on to the wild West Coast. Helping pilots young or old to achieve their gliding goals is my passion”
