Please note that accommodation at the Airfield Chalets is included in Private and Group courses costs. ( but not task weeks). This may be up-graded to the Countrytime Resort Hotel for an additionl NZ$15 per night.

Airfield Chalets

On prime airfield locations these comfortable motel style cabins are fully equipped and partially serviced and are ideal accommodation for one person or a couple, (with an optional extra single).

Each is privately owned by a glider pilot. They are peaceful places with great views and have room to park your glider out front!

All are built to similar specifications with:

• a generous living/kitchen area,
• bedroom with a double bed
• a bathroom with shower and laundry facilities,
• the living room may also have an extra bed or a roll out sofa bed. so an extra person can be accommodated.
• outdoor patio

Airfield Camping Ground

Located at the centre of the flying action the Airfield Campground is operated for glider pilots by the Omarama Soaring Centre. It offers tent sites and caravans for rent and includes an excellent kitchen block together with showers, toilets and clothes washing facilities. Costs are $12 per person per night plus $12 per rented caravan per night. If you bring your own tent or campervan, your costs are limited to the per person charge.

Countrytime Hotel

The Countrytime is a 50 room Hotel situated on the airfield two minutes walk from the gliding area. It is under new ownership and proactive management.

The rooms are fully serviced with their own shower/bath, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and Internet access. Access to a communal kitchen is possible by prior arrangement. Sky TV is available in our lounge area and you can relax in the bar area, either inside or out, with great views of the airfield and the surrounding mountains.

The rate for glider pilots is NZ$100 night

The wine list is extensive with local wines complementing superb food.

They are flexible for those late landing pilots who will need a meal and a drink to cap off the amazing mountain soaring experience!

Sierra Motels

The Sierra Motels are walking distance from the airfield and have long been a favourite with glider pilots. They are roomy, clean and comfortable with very friendly hosts.

Rates are $95 per night per unit from November - April with discounts to long staying glider pilots. We also have a self-contained flat with kitchenette, sleeps two,only $70 per night.

Ahuriri Motel

Located less then a kilometre's walk across a field behind the airfield the Ahuriri Motel is hosted by Colleen and Brian Grumball. They have 12 fully serviced units and two studios and offer discounts to long staying glider pilots. They have arrangements for families, BBQ facilities and can provide continental breakfasts.

Their standard rate is $95 per unit.
